Kisubi Mapeera Celebrates 27 Years of Faith, Growth and Achievement

What began 27 years ago with a small group of students has grown into a school community shaped by faith, education, hard work and service. Today, Kisubi Mapeera Secondary School brought together students, parents, teachers, old students and friends of the school to celebrate its journey, pray for its candidates and recognise the people and achievements that continue to shape KIMSS.

What started as a STEM learning experience for five of our students turned into a day they are unlikely to forget. After standing out in the Nile Explorer programme, the students were invited to the U.S. Embassy, where they met embassy staff, asked questions about careers and got a glimpse of a world beyond the classroom.

Kisubi Mapeera Secondary School is more than an institution of learning. Its story is closely connected to the early history of the Catholic Church in Uganda and to the missionary journey of Fr. Simeon Lourdel, popularly known as Mapeera. From humble beginnings in 1999, the school has grown into a large secondary school while maintaining its Catholic identity and commitment to education, discipline and character formation.
